PTB’s Wind Energy Competence Center features a large coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that allows us to offer the world’s only calibration services for the large gears used in wind energy systems. With a measuring volume of 5 m × 4 m × 2 m and equipped with both tactile and optical sensors, the system can calibrate not only gear quantities but also the diameter, shape, and straightness of 3D geometric elements.
