Summit Technology Highlights PK4564-PRO System for Complete Electrical & Power Services Power and Power-Quality Data Gathering and Analysis

Complete package combines power-quality analyzer, flexible current probes, line-to-DC converter, and Windows software for analysis, reporting, and remote operation in electrical applications.

Summit Technology, a global leader in the design, manufacture, sale, and rental of electric power analyzers, accessories, software, and related services, highlights the PK4564-PRO power-quality analysis system power-quality studies, energy audits, load studies, harmonic analysis, and cost and efficiency evaluations in electrical and power-quality services. The compact, field-rugged package combines the PS4550 Power Quality Analyzer, four flexible AC current probes, the ability to power itself off the power it monitors, redundant data storage, wired and wireless PC communications, and PowerSight Manager Advanced (PSM-A) Windows software.

The system measures and logs voltage, current, power, apparent power, energy, power factor, frequency, total harmonic distortion, and more. Each voltage and current channel is sampled every 8 microseconds to derive the data for detailed waveform, harmonic, and variable-speed-drive analysis. The analyzer captures voltage and current swells, surges, dips, sags, inrush, and absolute and relative high-speed transients, enabling service providers to identify disturbances that affect customer electrical-system reliability and equipment performance.

The included four eFX6000 flexible current probes measure AC current from 1 to 6,000 A across two operating ranges. Their flexible design simplifies installation around tightly spaced conductors, large bus bars, and inside panels where rigid clamp-on probes may not fit. The analyzer supports variable-frequency systems at 22–200 Hz and 360–440 Hz to 6,000 A, as well as DC systems to 2,000 A.

Directly connected voltage measurement to 1,000 V is standard. Optional PowerSight medium-voltage probes allow direct connection to 4,160 V motors and the primaries of 12.5 kV distribution transformers without installing PTs. Input ratios support indirect measurement through current and potential transformers up to 6 megamps, 6 megavolts, and 1 gigawatt.

Users can select logging intervals from one second to 99 minutes (measurements are done continuously, they are summarized by maximum, minimum, and average to create a log record at the end of each logging interval). Extended internal memory, SD card support, redundant storage, and internal data retention help preserve monitoring records and reduce data-loss risk during extended customer-site studies. The included Mini Line-to-DC Converter powers the analyzer from the voltage being monitored, supporting fully sealed operation inside a locked panel (no external cords). An internal lithium-ion battery provides 8–10 hours of operation, allowing monitoring to continue during power interruptions within that runtime.

PSM-A software displays logs and waveforms for quick view and in-depth analysis, including harmonic bar charts, harmonic matrices, and phasor views. It displays power quality events in multiple formats with analysis tools. All data files can be exported to text and Excel. ReportWriter provides automated summary reports, elapsed and projected energy and cost savings, and before-and-after comparisons. DataSetup Wizard, TestPlan Manager, and the SureStart expert system help electrical users organize studies, configure logging and event triggers, verify connections before monitoring, and reduce setup errors.

Standard Bluetooth and USB communications provide wireless and wired PC connections. Bluetooth-enabled viewing and control through PSM-A allow users to access real-time measurements and operate the analyzer remotely while it remains inside a locked panel. The PS4550 is also compatible with the PowerSight Remote Monitoring Solution for live measurements, remote file retrieval, and 24/7 alarms and alerts without connecting the analyzer to a local area network.

The Advanced Measurement Option adds logging of hundreds of additional measurements, including individual harmonics, voltage and current unbalance, reactive power, displacement power factor, and separate consumed, generated, and net power measurements. The FAO Option provides power-line noise spectrum analysis to 100 kHz.

The handheld analyzer’s multi-level keypad provides access to measurements and summary calculations, including power and cost estimates, demand-period quantities, duty cycle, and average on/off times. The 1.1 lb instrument features a backlit text display, high-resolution PC graphics. It is CE safety rated for 1,000 V CAT III and 600 V CAT IV.

The PK4564-PRO package includes the PS4550 analyzer with Extended Memory Option, AC charger, four deluxe voltage leads, four eFX6000 flexible 6,000 A current probes, SD memory card, hard-shell carrying case, PSM-A Windows software, Mini Line-to-DC Converter, Bluetooth USB Adapter, USB Communications Cable, and a one-year deluxe warranty.
